Hornets fans had reason to celebrate at their end of season get together last night. The team brought a close to a long and difficult season with a comfortable victory over Workington.

Despite falling behind to an early Jamie Marshall try, Hornets ran in 34 points without reply to stun their depleted opponents. Mick Fogerty crossed twice, while there were also tries for Marlon Miller and and an Adam Thomas try, with Dean Hatton converting three of the four.

After the break Miller notched his brace, while Martin Ainscough ran sixty yards to score. More conversions from Hatton saw Hornets lead by 38 points to four.

The visitors, to their credit, rallied, and a flowing move ended with Stephen Dawes crossing the whitewash. Jack Pedley and James Robinson added two more and Scott Burgess coverted the extras to give the scoreline an air of respectability for Workington.

Andrew Isherwood sent the Hornets fans home happy with a late try as Workington tired from their second half efforts.
