Another draw for Rochdale Town

Date published: 03 September 2009

Rochdale Town drew for the third time this season following a goalless game with Cheadle Town.

Both sides tried to play attacking football throughout but neither could find the net and ultimately cancelled each other out.

The two keepers were kept busy. Early on Cheadle's O'Keefe saved smartly from Kerim Alan's drive and at the other end Mark Canning made a superb stop to keep out Brookes.

Town began to get on top as the first half progressed but O'Keefe was in fine form, somehow keeping out a bullet header from James Greenhalgh as the half came to a close.
O'Keefe capped a man of the match performance in the second half as he touched another Greenhalgh effort onto the post and then denied the Town midfielder once more by saving with his legs.

The home side became increasingly frustrated and Cheadle came on strong towards the end. Town had to be strong in defence and they got the luck they deserved when a low cross was flashed across goal with only a touch needed to give Cheadle a late winner.

Rochdale travel to top of the league Irlam on Saturday (5 September), kick off 3pm.
