Pro's five wicket haul gives Rochdale win

Date published: 10 August 2009

Rochdale professional Kash Weeraratne grabbed five for 55 as Crompton were skittled for 127 to give Dale victory at Redbrook on Saturday.

Crompton should have sealed victory after the hosts were bowled out for 143 but Weeraratne's display meant Crompton could never get to grips with the low target.

Elsewhere, Norden and Monton and Weaste boosted their title hopes with maximum-points victories, but Heywood suffered a wounding home defeat at the hands of Littleborough.

Saturday scores:

Heywood 108 (Cross 53, Smit 6-38), Littleborough 185 (Smit 58, Deakin 42, Hardman 5-64); Middleton 121-7 (Davey 40 n.o., Priyadarshana 6-46), Walsden 117; Monton and Weaste 262-3 (Green 99, Scott 42, Hamilton 41, Cross 32 n.o.), Radcliffe 168 (Robinson 31, Hamilton 5-61, Scott 4-49); Norden 102-3 (Symes 53), Milnrow 101 (Makin 5-24); Oldham 121 (Zafar 46, Yousaf 6-33), Ashton 173-9 (Mistry 52, Abid 35, Inkpen 5-85); Rochdale 143, Crompton 127 (Weeraratne 5-55); Royton 214 (Procter 101, Lumley 4-79), Unsworth 256-9 (Lumley 123, Love 61, J Punchard 4-85); Werneth 208-9 (Walker 43, J Taylor 40n.o., M Taylor 36, Lenhardt 33, Hough 4-86, Nisar 3-61), Clifton 212-2 (Nisar 109 n.o., Lord 54).
