Dale profit from Lambert sale

Former Rochdale striker Rickie Lambert has moved from Bristol Rovers to Southampton for a fee in excess of £1 million and Dale are set for a large cash windfall from the transfer.

When Dale sold Lambert to Rovers for £200,000 in 2006 it is believed that there was a 25% sell on clause included in the deal; so the Spotland club are set to more than double the fee that they originally received for the popular striker.

Lambert scored 28 goals in 64 appearances during his time at Spotland, and hit 29 goals for Bristol Rovers last season, making him the joint top-goalscorer in the English leagues.
