Bamford’s delight at new Parry contract
Date published: 16 July 2009
Lancashire left-arm spinner Stephen Parry has signed a deal to stay on as Bamford Fieldhouse’s professional.
The 23-year-old, who is highly-rated at Old Trafford, has agreed terms on a new contract until the end of 2010.
Bamford captain Andy Barton said: “We realise Stephen could get called into Lancashire’s first team at any time, and good luck to him if he does, but we’re happy to have him here.
“He’s a lovely lad who’s done alright with both bat and ball in the half-a-dozen games he has played for us this season. He also raises the profile of the club.”
Parry is yet to feature in a County Championship match, but made his first-class debut in the Friends Provident Trophy earlier in the season. He has also taken 10 wickets to help Lancashire through the group stages of the Twenty20 Cup.
