Thompson pens new deal

Joe Thompson celebrates his hat-trick goal at Aldershot.

Young winger Joe Thompson will be with Rochdale for another season after signing a new contract.

Thompson, entering his third season as a professional, made significant progress last season and was a permanent feature in and around the first team squad.

His season's highlight undoubtedly came at Aldershot, where he grabbed a first half hat-trick, and he followed that up with another strike at Chester a week later.

The winger, who turned 20 in March, has made 62 first team appearances and scored six goals in total.
