Carling Cup draw tomorrow
Date published: 15 June 2009
Rochdale will find out their opponents for the first round of the Carling Cup tomorrow, and they are guaranteed a game against a team from a higher division.
The first round draw is split into northern and southern sections, with the teams from the Championship and some League One sides seeded so that Dale will definitely play against one of them.
The draw has been designed so that Dale could face a money spinning tie against the likes of Leeds, Derby or Nottingham Forest. They could even play West Bromwich Albion, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
The full list of Dale's potential opponents is: Barnsley, Blackpool, Coventry City, Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Preston North End, Scunthorpe United, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall and West Bromwich Albion.
