Hunslet Hawks 56 Hornets 30

A disastrous start put paid to Hornets chances of getting off the bottom of the Championship One table.

With twenty minutes played Hunslet found themselves 28 points in front without reply and, despite something of a rally from the visitors, the Hawks ran out comfortable victors.
Before the half-time break Martin Ainscough and Tommy Gallagher brought Hornets back into the proceedings but another onslaught in the second half so the Hawks record five more tries.

Craig Johnson, Mick Fogerty and Craig Mayberry gave the scoreline an air of respectability but Hunslet's lead was never troubled.
