Rochdale's appeal against the red card that defender Nathan Stanton picked up against Aldershot has been successful.
The FA met this morning and overturned the red card, which was given when Stanton tripped Aldershot striker Marvin Morgan. The referee awarded a penalty for the foul, even though it appeared to happen on the edge of the box, and sent Stanton off, believing that he had denied a goalscoring opportunity.
Rochdale presented evidence to the FA and they have decided that there were enough to covering defenders that would have denied Morgan a shooting chance if Stanton had not tripped the striker.
Stanton will not face a suspension and is available to play against Morecambe this Saturday.
Meanwhile another defender has extended his stay away from Spotland. Marcus Holness will remain at non-league outfit Barrow for another month after enjoying his stay with the North West club and picking up some valuable game time. Dale have insisted on a 24-hour recall for the defender should he be needed at Spotland at any stage during his loan spell.
