Rochdale Hornets enter administration.
Rochdale Hornets are expected to go into administration today (Tuesday 13 January) following a unanimous vote at a shareholders meeting last night.
The shareholders were told that if the club did not go into administration Hornets would be wound up tomorrow at a scheduled High Court hearing.
The club was served a winding-up order for £55,000 by the Inland Revenue and total debts have spiralled to £190,000. The shareholders voted unanimously to try and save the club by entering administration.
Club officials have met with the administrators, believed to be O'Hara and Co in Leeds, and will put forward the official papers today.
Meanwhile the club is continuing to explore the possibility of setting up a new company and has appealed to shareholders to offer financial backing. It is believed that Rochdale Football Club, who share Spotland Stadium with Hornets, have agreed in principle to run the day to day administration of the rugby club, if and when a new company is set up.
