Sailors lining up on Hollingworth Lake
Young sailors at Hollingworth Lake on Sunday 24 March showed winning skills on a pleasant sunny afternoon. Results displayed close racing with three racers having equal points scored.
Junior sailor Jessica Marsh, in a Topper, had the best overall results of the day with a win in the third race, after a runner up spot in the second one. This meant that she beat her parents, Richard and Heather Marsh, in a RS400, who won the first race and were second in the third one. Sometimes the handicap systems favour the Topper dinghies sailing shorter races than the faster boats.
Another young sailor, Annabel Hayfield also in a Topper, had good results with a fourth place in the first race, and a third in the second one, to be fifth overall. In between, in third place overall was Mike Smith in his Solo who won the second race after a runner up place in the first one. In fourth place overall was Chris Massey with Ryan Richards in a RS400 counting a third place in the first race and a fourth in the last race.
