Hope Football – Rochdale AFC Community Trust’s mixed adult's team for anyone new to the borough, including refugees and those seeking sanctuary – played in their first tournament in October.
The team, which was formed in June, played against Burnley’s Clarets Welcome side, but unfortunately lost on penalties.
Hope Football runs on a Wednesday evening from 5-7pm, and is led by Rochdale AFC Community Trust's inclusion co-ordinator Liz Cotterill and coach Emma, after they identified a gap in the community.

The first session saw seven attendees and now has 61 people signed up, with 21 nationalities represented.
Liz said: “Our team showed brilliant skill, scoring goals in every match and even supported the other club by playing for their team too.
“While the team lost on penalties, they worked hard and made their own fans who made the journey to watch them very proud.”
Liz added: “We're also still collecting trainers in a size 7 and above, adult and any sports kit you might be getting rid of, as well as Pot Noodle-type snacks for the team.
