A 16-year-old boxer from Rochdale has been named the England boxing junior development national champion (U46kg).
Kasim Ashiq, who boxes out of Premier Boxing Gym in Bolton, competed in the competition in Banbury over the weekend of 22 and 23 October.
He faced off against Kelvin Bagley, of Almond Boxing Academy, Doncaster, who he beat by a 4-1 split decision to reach the finals, where he beat Baylie Clarke, of Andersons ABC, Birmingham, after the referee stopped the contest.
Kasim began boxing when he was five and has also twice been named the England North West region champion, and a bronze medallist in the junior open England boxing championship.
