Rally hopeful in search of sponsor

Date published: 03 October 2008

A Newhey rally hopeful is looking for sponsorship funds so that he can compete in the Rally GB in December.

18 year-old Joe Cruttenden raced in last weekend's round of the British Rally Championship in Pickering. He was co-driving for the 2007 Citroen c2 champion Martin Laverty and the pair finished 4th in class and 19th overall after 10 stages on the fast Yorkshire Forest circuit.

Joe said: "The stages were much rougher then the previous rallies I have competed on in the Yorkshire Forests. But we were able to avoid any punctures, despite the tyres almost disintegrating by the end of the last stage."

The trouble free run moved Laverty up to fourth in the C2 championship with just one round remaining.

Joe, who is Studying Motorsport Engineering at Preston University, is competing in the Bulldog Rally later this month and hopes to compete in the rally GB if he can raise the funds. He said: "I would love to be able to compete in the Rally GB this year, if the finances allow, but I require a sponsor to achieve this, my student loan will not cover it."
