Mayfield player Max Wood has signed a professional contract with super league side Wigan Warriors.
Max has been at Mayfield since he was six years old playing in every age group. As well as being a big part of the Mayfield youth set up Max has also been going through the Wigan Warriors scholarship regime and last season he made his presence felt in the Warriors U17s side.
When a professional contract was first being discussed last season, Max decided to delay in order to play some rugby for the Mayfield first team before he signed. He played a handful of games in the NCL making a huge impact before he put pen to paper on his pro contract.
Chairman Neil Ramsden said: "Although we are sad to be losing a player of such quality, we wish Max the very best for the future. Everyone at Mayfield is confident that he will stake his claim to a regular spot in the Warriors first team."
