Rugby League: Mayfield preview

Date published: 26 April 2019

Mayfield's Kingstone Press NCL Premier Division clash with Thornhill Trojans has been postponed after the sad death of one of the Thornhill players. All at Mayfield send their thoughts and best wishes to the Thornhill Club.

Craig White takes his NWML side on the road, they face Wigan based Shevington Sharks.

Shevington have had a great start to the season winning three of their opening four games while Mayfield have had a real struggle in their first season in the Premier Division.

Players have returned over the last couple of weeks and there has been a definite improvement.

Saturday’s game will be a big test for the lads but one that they are up to taking. They travel with a strong squad and will be hoping to turn their season around and register that all important first win.

The youngsters in the squad have been impressive with Callum Corcoran, James McDaid and Corey Newsham in particular standing out.

While at the other end of the spectrum Rob Kershaw is using his experience to try and steady the ship.
