Football: Rochdale Ladies 5 - 3 Bolton Lads & Girls Club

Date published: 29 January 2019

Rochdale AFC Ladies Open Age team claimed victory in an eight-goal thriller over Bolton Lads & Girls Club on Sunday 27 January 2019.

Despite the horrendous conditions, the first-half was end-to-end and Rochdale battled well to go in 2-2 at the break thanks to two goals from Belinda Carter.

After the interval, Rochdale used the wind to their advantage, with the forwards using their pace to break down the Bolton defensive line.

Carter scored another three well taken goals, taking her total to five for the match and netting all of Dale’s goals in a 5-3 victory.

Manager Mark Pilling praised the forward: “The quality of Belinda was clear for all to see.

“We can only grow from strength to strength now. We have to remember that we have only been together for 17 months, and with players returning from injuries we can only get better.

“Everyone was excellent today, especially Belinda, Charlotte, Erin Kilpatrick and Georgia Cocking, who has stepped up and put in some fantastic performances recently.”

The ladies’ next game sees them travel to Salford City Lionesses on Sunday 3 February – 2pm kick-off.
