Serena Cape
Serena Cape has been selected into the England Centre of Excellence programme and is one step further along the pathway to play for England.
Serena said: “The England Rugby Football Union (RFU) Centre of Excellence is an amazing opportunity for me to improve my rugby and keep developing as a player. I’m really excited and looking forward to working with the coaches.”
Oliver Zebedee-Howard, Rochdale Rugby Club Ladies chairman, said: “Serena started her rugby career at Rochdale Rugby Club under 15s girls (Viper squad) and quickly excelled within the team.
“After lots of hard work she was chosen to play for Lancashire and gained three caps for her county and is now on the road to play for England.
“All our Rochdale girls, coaches and managers wish her every success in pursuing this dream.”
Rugby is the fastest growing team sports for women in England.
The Centre of Excellence programme recognises the significant growth in the female game over the last four years and sets out a series of interventions that the RFU plans to make over the next four years to continue to grow the number of women and girls engaging in the game.
