Joe Thompson scored the goal that keeps Rochdale in League One
Rochdale avoided relegation to League Two after Joe Thompson’s strike earned Dale victory whilst Oldham could only draw at Northampton meaning its them that are relegated.
Thompson, who has come back after twice beating cancer, struck just three minutes after coming on as a substitute to set up fantastic scenes around the Crown Oil Arena.
The Oldham game finished over ten minutes after the Dale game which meant a nervous wait for confirmation that Dale would be in League One next season.
