Rugby Union: Rochdale Rugby Union FC Girls Rugby Mini Tournament

The first Rochdale RUFC Girls Rugby Tournament held at the club took place on Sunday (29 January).
The afternoon saw 60 girls playing two matches each over two hours of rugby union played at a high pace and with quality.
Organiser and coach Oliver Howard said: “The girls have clearly enjoyed themselves to day and the level they have played at matches the best amongst our boys club players, and they were all winners today and the game of Rugby Union was the biggest winner of all.”
Sofia Kelly said: “I felt our team came together and played to their full ability in what was our first competitive outing, It was just fantastic.”
Skye Whitton said: “I was really nervous at the start and before the game, but, once that whistle went, a new reality bit home and I loved it.”
RRUFC girls squad has 32 regular players and three more girls joined the club on the day.
