Colin Garlick's Story

To mark the start of the new football season, the EFL launched the  EFL Stories campaign to tell the stories of all the people who help make the EFL what it is - a football experience for everyone.

Rochdale AFC were asked to nominate an individual to represent progress within the club and present the match ball on the pitch for the first league home game of the season. The staff nominated Colin Garlick, who has been chief executive and secretary at the club for over 10 years. The last decade at Spotland Stadium has been the most successful period in the club’s history.

Mr Garlick has been a key figure, alongside chairman Chris Dunphy and manager Keith Hill, in shaping two promotions to League One in 2010 and 2014, respectively. They have also established the club as a League One outfit, in addition to regaining ownership of the stadium.

Although Mr Garlick is leaving the club in September to join Port Vale, he leaves Dale with a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

He was given the honour of presenting the match ball on the pitch for Dale’s first home game of the 2016/17 season.

Bring  a friend designated games

Season ticket holders who purchased during the special promotion period will be able to use their 'bring a friend' vouchers at the following games:

  • Bring a friend for £5 – Walsall (22 November) and Port Vale (28 February)
  • Bring a friend for £10 – Scunthorpe (10 December)
  • Bring a junior for free – Scunthorpe (10 December)
