Heywood youngsters given a chance to shine
Date published: 08 July 2010
Talented youngsters are being encouraged to take part in an exciting project this summer combining fun with learning new practical skills and the chance to perform in front of a live audience.
Children aged between 8 and 16 from the Heywood area can attend workshops held at Woodlands Primary School, Regent Street, leading up to a spectacular “Heywood’s Got Talent” showcase event in September.
The first workshop will take place on Wednesday 14 July with the second a week later on Wednesday 21 July between 4pm and 6pm.
All sessions are completely free but places are given on a first come first served basis so to avoid disappointment sign-up quickly if you want to be involved.
You don’t have to be a performer to take part however, there are a wide range of activities to be involved with, from lighting and sound to hair and make-up, you can even be involved in the filming of a DVD to document the event as it happens.
The project is being led by Guinness Northern Counties and industry professionals will be on hand to coach the children and help them reach their full potential.
As well as the chance to be involved in such an energetic and exciting project, participants will also receive a formal qualification which they can add to their CV.
Lisa Duffy, Community Investment Manager at Guinness Northern Counties, said: “Heywood’s Got Talent is a great opportunity to get children involved in an exciting project that will allow them to show off their talents whilst having a lot of fun.”
“Guinness Northern Counties have been involved in very similar events in other areas which have been hugely successful. We are confident that the children of Heywood will work together to make this an experience they will never forget.”
