Hair salon wins Christmas window competition

Date published: 20 December 2010

Janet’s Hair Salon on Hare Hill Road, Littleborough, is the winner of Littleborough’s Christmas window competition.

Many Littleborough businesses really got into the Christmas spirit by decorating their windows for the festive season.

Littleborough Events and Associations Forum (LEAF) resurrected the Christmas Window Competition that was previously organised by the Littleborough Action Group and more than 17 businesses took part.

This year was the first time members of the public were invited to vote for their favourite via Rochdale Online.

The public votes were added to the votes cast by members of LEAF to determine the winner.

The top three windows were:
1. Janet's Hair Salon on Hare Hill Road
2. Littleborough Gallery on Church Street
3. Bamford Dry Cleaners on Hare Hill Road

Janet Rawlinson, proprietor of Janet's Hair Salon, was presented with her winner's trophy by Steve Lister, Chairman of LEAF.

Ms Rawlinson, said: "This has really made my day. We have been here
27 years but because we are quite far up Hare Hill Road we are separated from the rest of the shops and are usually missed. This is the first time I have ever entered anything like this so to win first time is really special."

Steve Lister said: "This has been a great success and has helped to tell everyone what a great range of shops there is in Littleborough. We are hoping to build on this next year so that people will want to come to Littleborough especially to see the Christmas Windows."
