Bank Holiday fun at Hollingworth Lake

Date published: 31 May 2010

Families from across the North West headed to Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough today (Monday 31 May 2010) to enjoy some Bank Holiday fun.

Feeding the ducks, dipping toes in the water and having a picnic were all on the agenda for visitors at the lake.

The Martin family from Prestwich visit the lake once or twice a year, Mrs Martin said: “It is a really popular place and a great day out for the family.”

One family had travelled from Essex to visit friends in Todmorden and popped down to the lake before the long drive home, Donna Cuthbert and her daughter Rosie, 2, were feeding the ducks, Ms Cuthbert said: “We are just visiting but we have had a really nice bank holiday weekend.”

The cloudy skies didn’t put any children off playing in the sand; they made sand castles, played football and ate ice creams.

Emma Sharp brought her two children to the lake for the day, Ella, 3, played with her fishing net in the water as 10 month-old Sophie slept in her pram.

Ms Sharp said: “Ella got a net from the local aquarium and we decided here would be the best place to come, we have got a picnic and we are going to make a day of it.”
