Castleton Primary School children in world record attempt
Castleton Primary School has taken part in a Guinness World Record attempt today (Tuesday 1 March 2011).
The school took part in singing ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,’ at 11.00am, for five minutes, as part of a national bid to get the largest number of people to sing the song at the same time.
The school is one of many across the country which took part in the activity – organised by I CAN.
The current record holders had 1,462 people taking part.
I CAN, the children's communication charity, holds a “Chatterbox Challenge” every year. The aim of the challenge is to practise rhymes and songs to develop children's communication skills.
Castleton Primary School’s involvement in the activity was organised by Barry Cook who is a teacher in SALTAC (Speech and Language Team at Castleton).
Mr Cook said it is “particularly important” that the school supports the I CAN charity.
He said: “The children were fantastic.
“They did really well.”
The school will find out whether the attempt has made it to the Guinness World Record book when all the paper work for the activity has been submitted and approved.
