Support for older versions of Internet Explorer ends in January
Date published: 18 December 2015
Those who are using older versions of Internet Explorer are being warned that support for older versions will end in January 2016.
From 12 January, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical supports and security updates.
Internet Explorer 11 is the last version of Internet Explorer and will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes and technical support on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.
Due to these changes, users are being advised to update Internet Explorer to ensure that support and security updates are available. After 12 January, Microsoft will no longer be able to provide security updates or technical support for any older versions of Internet Explorer.
Security updates patch vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware and help keep users and their data safe. Regular updates help protect computers from malicious attacks so upgrading is important.
