Pensioners enjoying Christmas lunch at Norden Cricket Club
More than 65 pensioners were treated to a full Christmas roast dinner, followed by a quiz and carol singing with Sue Dearden, at Norden Cricket Club.
The saved what is an annual festive pensioners event that was on the verge of being cancelled - organised for the last five years by local police, a couple of months ago it was announced that the event was not going ahead this year due to a number of logistical reasons.
The cricket club’s committee heard of the news and agreed to organise the festive lunch free of charge.
Making sure the original traditions remained, local officer PC Rhys Ibbotson also took to the stage to talk to guests about safety and answered questions.
Club Chairman John Murphy commented: “Norden Cricket Club is committed to supporting the local community and what better time to bring local residents together than at Christmas.
“We loved hosting the event and we’re already planning how we can make next year’s even bigger and better.”
