Two firework displays and family fun as Rochdale celebrates New Year’s Eve in style

Date published: 17 December 2015

Two separate displays will light up the sky on New Year’s Eve in Rochdale town centre, one at 5.30pm for families and the second at midnight to ring in 2016.

On Thursday 31 December there will be free children’s funfair rides from 11am to 5.30pm, located alongside Rochdale Market on Smith Street.

From 11am to 4.30pm Lancashire Hawks and Owls will bring 12 birds of prey, which will also be on display by Rochdale Market. They are hand-reared and totally approachable, which means they can be touched and can pose for photographs.

At 5.30pm there will be a firework display suitable for children, before the big firework display at midnight as Rochdale Town Hall clock rings the chimes for the start of 2016.

From Wednesday 23 December to Sunday 3 January Rochdale Fun Park will be on Milton Street East Car Park with thrill rides, a ‘Frozen’ stage show, synthetic ice rink and more.

Entry fee is £5 per person - Rochdale Online is offering HALF PRICE family tickets (up to four people) for just £10.

These half price tickets can be purchased online via Rochdale Online owned Gigabuy:

Mark Foxley from Rochdale Town Centre Management said: “These attractions in Rochdale town centre are another reason to come into town and celebrate the New Year in style.

"We’ve got some fantastic restaurants and bars and the atmosphere at this time of year is superb.

"Our fireworks at midnight will be amazing and if you can see the town centre skyline, you will see the fireworks.”

The first three hours of parking in town centre council car parks is free.
