Overturned road sweeper on Smith Street
Date published: 16 December 2015
A council road sweeper over turned on Smith Street on Tuesday (15 December).
Darren Eves said: “I had seen the same one about an hour earlier coming down Molesworth Street.
“Several vehicles arrived on the scene and put down clean-up chemicals, on returning to the scene at around 4.00pm the vehicle had gone and the last of the clean-up vehicles where leaving.”
Mark Widdup, Director of Neighbourhoods at Rochdale Borough Council said: “At approximately 1.00pm one of our mechanical street sweepers fell on to its side in Smith Street. The driver was uninjured but has been relieved of driving duties pending an accident investigation by our health and safety team, which was launched immediately. The vehicle was removed soon afterwards.”
