Rochdale community helping in Cumbria

Deeplish Community Centre and KYP in Rochdale have started joint operation to help communities in Cumbria affected by flooding by providing support and supplies.

Councillors Aasim Rashid and Mohammed Zaman also joined forces to support the operation and encouraged local communities and business to partake generously. Local resident and lecturer atn Hopwood Hall College, Khalid Ali also supported the campaign.

Sohail Ahmad and Mohammed Sheraz from Deeplish Community Centre and KYP made efforts to visit local businesses including World Wide, Haji Cash & Carry and Arif Cash & Carry and thanked the local business community for participating and supporting this campaign.

Haji Cash & Carry owner said: “We ought to support within UK, if and when required in any difficult times or disasters, it is vital part of community development and engagement in times like this.”

Mohammed Sheraz is now on his way to Cumbria.
