Simon Danczuk to dress as Father Christmas for charity challenge

Date published: 08 December 2015

Simon Danczuk has been steering clear of the mince pies as he trains for a charity fun-run with a festive feel.

The Rochdale MP will swap his suit and tie for a red jacket and white beard as he takes part in the 10th annual Springhill Hospice Santa Dash or Dawdle.

Mr Danczuk will join participants of all ages and abilities for a sponsored run, jog or walk along Hollingworth Lake while dressed as Father Christmas on Sunday 13 December.

The 2014 Santa Dash raised a staggering £15,500 for the hospice with organisers hoping this year’s total will be even more.

Mr Danczuk said: “I have always been a huge supporter of Springhill Hospice and the amazing work they do in the local community.

“The Santa Dash will be a lot of fun but it’s also a great opportunity to raise funds for a much-loved local charity which provides a vital service.”

Community Fundraiser Lillie Winterbottom said: “The Santa Dash or Dawdle is one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar. Simon kindly started the event last year and we are absolutely delighted that he is taking part this year.

“It seems to get bigger each time and I hope as many people as possible can join us at
Hollingworth Lake on 13 December to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this fantastic fundraising event in aid Springhill Hospice."
