Santa Special: Children dance with delight
Date published: 08 December 2015
Santa was on board a special train fron Littleborough Station giving out presents and mince pies on Sunday (6 December). Littleborough Public Brass Band and carol singers from Littleborough Churches Together provided seasonal music.
Orgainsed by Friends of Littleborough Station, rail user group STORM and Northern Rail, the train called at Smithy Bridge and Rochdale, where more families got on board to join in the festive fun, on its way to Manchester.
Rae Street, chairwoman of the Friends of Littleborough Station, said: "It was such a pleasing event. It was worth everything to see the small children on the Littleborough platform dancing with delight when they saw Santa resplendent in his red outfit and curly white beard.
"Overheard was a comment from a young woman returning to London: 'Well, this is the nicest train ride I've ever had, we don't get this in London.'
"A huge vote of thanks to Mike, Ruth and Dilys for organising this and to all the helpers, the band and the churches' carol singers, not forgetting Santa Claus."
