Invitation to Thrum Hall Church Christmas Day party

Date published: 07 December 2015

Anyone who will be on their own on Christmas Day is being invited to attend the Thrum Hall Church Christmas Day Party.

Marilyn Jones, one of the original organisers, said: “We serve Christmas dinner at the party and also send meals out (a bit like meals on wheels).

“Last year we had approximately 40 at the party and sent 35 meals out.

“Last year, for the first time, we also sent 25 meals to Leopold Court which is a hostel for the homeless.

"We will be doing the same again this year.

“It’s just nice for people who would be on their own to sit, eat and chat to others in the same situation.

“Guests can be picked up between 12 noon and 12.30pm and taken home again for 3 o'clock.

“If anyone wants to volunteer that would be great, but we really would like more people to attend party itself or if they aren't able to come, at least have a meal delivered by someone who can stay and have a chat.”

"If there is anyone wishing to accept this invitation, volunteer or have a meal delivered my contact number is 01706 852340 or 07817 150 327 or visit the church web site:

The party has been going over forty years, started by the Thrum Hall youth group who were in their early teens at the time, many of them have been involved with the event ever since and it has very much become part of the church year, with generations of church family members donating time and gifts.
