The Norden Arms annual free Christmas lunch

Date published: 02 December 2015

The Norden Arms held their annual free Christmas Lunch for 100 local senior citizens on Tuesday (1 December). As is the 'tradition' councillors (Jim Gartside and Peter Winkler) helped serve the hungry hundred with their three course Christmas lunch.

Joanne Cudworth, of the Norden Arms, said: "It was a fantastic afternoon again, with new faces as well as some of those from last year.

"The turkey dinner with all the trimmings which our new head Chef Debbie and her husband, and sous Chef, Declan cooked up went down a storm with clean plates throughout. Many of the guests stayed until early evening drinking and chatting with friends.

Dionne Blackshaw, deputy manager, said: “It was my first day working at the Norden Arms, I have just joined the management team here and I couldn't have asked for a nicer group to serve on my first day.”

“I was looking forward to the event again this year after the success of the first one in 2014. It was a great afternoon again and really enjoyable to see everybody enjoying themselves, roll on next year.”

Head Chef Debbie Crawley added: “Cooking Christmas Dinner for 100 is a difficult task, but Declan and I work great together and enjoyed the afternoon.

"It was my husband Declan's birthday too which only added to the festive feeling.”
