Heybrook crowned champions for a third consecutive year

Date published: 25 November 2015

Heybrook Primary School participated in the annual Rochdale Borough 5-a-side tournament which was held at Falinge Park High School and after a thrilling and thoroughly entertaining game, Heybrook were crowned champions for a third consecutive year.

The children involved were from Year’s 5 & 6; Umar, Mohib, Yaqoob, Ismail, Yasin, Timmy and Hassan.

There were six schools that qualified for the finals; Heybrook, Healey, Shawclough, Greenbank, Spotland and Meanwood.

The tournament was played in two groups with each game lasting a total of 7 minutes.

The team with most points after these games would qualify for the final.

Heybrook won its entire group matches convincingly, running riot in attack whilst only conceding one goal in the process.

They then went on to face Shawclough in what was to be an epic finale.

Mr Hussain and Mr Gregory coaches of Heybrook's football team: "To win it once was amazing, but to be crowned Primary Schools champions three years in a row is unbelievable and shows the consistency in the quality we are producing here at Heybrook.

"It was a very competitive tournament with some excellent football being played so to have won it makes us extremely proud of the boys."
