Rail group STORM concerned that parking at Rochdale station is limited

Date published: 19 November 2015

Rail group STORM is concerned that parking at Rochdale station is limited and will become even more so once parking restrictions in the area are enforced.

The group has recently noticed that the car park for the station is running almost full at peak times.

Parking restrictions are due to be enforced around the station and the car park, which will lose space for cars that can’t get onto the car park at busy times.

The restrictions set to be enforced are:

  • No waiting or loading either side of Sarah Street – which will result in the loss of eight places.
  • No waiting or loading in Miall Street (north side) for a stretch of 65 metres starting 10 metres west of the station entrance in an easterly direction – which will result in the loss of 15 places.
  • No waiting or loading south side at any time.
  • No parking and no loading on Hare Street but restricted between 6am and 6pm.

The group also state that there is “no indication if there will be any dedicated disabled parking or waiting area to pick up passengers arriving by train or tram.”

Rochdale Council did not respond to our request for comment.
