Chloe Wood to cut off 12 inches of her hair for charity

Date published: 19 November 2015

Eight-year-old Chloe Wood is planning to cut 12 inches of her hair off and donate it to charity, all while raising money for Cancer Research.

Chloe, from Wardle, was watching Children in Need and saw that someone had cut their hair for charity and donated it to the Little Princess Trust.

Chloe’s mum, Emma Wood, said: “She saw someone had done it on Children in Need and decided that she wanted to help little boys and girls and it went from there.

“I’m really surprised because she loves her hair and everyone who knows her, knows how much she loves her hair. It is currently down to her bum so I’m surprised she is wanting to cut so much off.”

The Little Princess Trust use the donated hair to provide real hair wigs to boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Chloe also wants to raise money for Cancer Research as part of her fundraising.

Emma added: “We asked her about it all and she decided on Cancer Research because we have had family members who have had cancer. She also wanted to help a dog charity but unfortunately, we couldn’t get that set up.”

Chloe originally set a fundraising target of £100 but, she has already smashed that with the total at nearly £500.

“We have about £480 online and people have given us cash donations. She is really pleased and even though she is a little nervous, she is really excited about doing it,” said Emma.

Chloe is due to have her hair cut on Tuesday 24 November at the Hair Gallery in Littleborough.
