Robbery at house on Albert Royd's Street

Date published: 18 November 2015

A man knocked on the door of a house on Albert Royd's Street, asking for a man who did not live there.

When the homeowner said no one with that name lived there, two other men forced their way in.

They demanded money and jewellery before they searched the house, taking her purse.

The victim ran outside with her one-year-old baby, screaming for help before a neighbour chased the three men away.

The three offenders got into a silver Vauxhall Corsa and drove off in the direction of Halifax Road.

The robbery happened at around 9.10pm on Tuesday 10 November 2015.

Police Constable Dave Thornton said: "The woman was looking after her baby when the men burst in and demanded money. Understandably she was petrified and concerned about the safety of her child. Thankfully they were not hurt and when she screamed, the men were chased off.

"I would ask anyone with information to contact police. We are also looking to question a Carl Warren (06/06/1978) in connection with the incident and would ask him or anyone who knows him, to call us."

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 1977 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
