Castleton residents praise emergency services

Date published: 17 November 2015

A vote of thanks was proposed at the Castleton area Forum this evening for the prompt action of the emergency services at the Holyrood Nursery after a carbon monoxide alarm was activated and carbon monoxide was found in the basement of the building.

Following an update from Councillor Billy Sheerin, who attended the evacuation scene, Frank Salt, whose grandson Joseph was one of the babies treated by paramedics in St Edwards School, expressed his thanks and the thanks of all the community to our hard pressed emergency services.

Mr Salt said: "It is at times like this that we come to realise first-hand what a marvellous group of people work for our safety and how some of the governments cuts in spending could limit this massive presence to rescue our infants."

All the Castleton residents present roundly supported the vote and wished the two children who are being treated in hospital a speedy recovery.
