St Andrew’s, Dearnley Autumn Fair raised a record £1,200 in little more than two hours.
Peter Shrigley, one of the church wardens, said: “A lot of hard work was put into the organisation of the Fair, but to raise so much money in such a short time was a fantastic result.”
The event was opened by the year three choir from St Andrew’s Primary School, led by their teacher on his guitar.
“The children did a great job for us,” said the vicar, the Rev Sharon Jones, who was as delighted with the ‘community’ aspect of the Fair as she was with the financial result.
"The Church wishes to thank the volunteers who helped in many ways; St Andrew’s School choir and everyone who supported the event and helped to make it one of the best and biggest in recent years.
“It was a perfect example of the St Andrew’s family, church, school and the local community from the parish, coming together in church to show their support for each other.
“A big thank you to all concerned.”
