Statement from the leader of the Council on the Paris terrorist attacks
Date published: 16 November 2015
The council observed the Europe-wide minute’s silence earlier today (Monday 16 November) and the flags, now including a French tricolour, are flying at half-mast outside the town hall.
Councillor Richard Farnell, the leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “The attacks in Paris on 13 November struck not just in the heart of France but also in the heart of everyone across the world who enjoys the freedoms and values that generations of people have fought so hard for.
"We stand with the families and friends of those killed during the attacks; they are in our thoughts and prayers and we extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to them.”
