St John with St Michael Winter Wonderland
Date published: 16 November 2015
St John with St Michael CE Primary School in Shawforth held a wonderful Winter Fair on Friday 13 November.
There were the usual stalls of tombola, bottle-bola and lucky dip and then the junior children helped run pull-a-cracker, tinsel chocco-lotto, pluck the turkey and helped to sell calendars and raffle tickets.
The main raffle prize was a Christmas Cheer Hamper that consisted of items kindly donated by the schools Governors.
The kitchen sold roast turkey muffins along with mince pies and Irish Coffees, which were well received on such a cold day.
The wonderful team of PTA members worked very hard asking local businesses within the community to donate raffle prizes and also secure stall holders.
The fair was well attended by pupils, parents, staff and many people from the surrounding areas.
Mrs Thomas, headteacher, attended the fair dressed as Batwoman due to the school also celebrating Children in Need by dressing as Super Heroes and selling Pudsey ears, pin badges and wrist bands.
Mrs Thomas said: "I am truly grateful for all the hard work put into the fair, it's always lovely to see our local community pull together and I am amazed at the amount made which is over £1,000, that's £300 more than last year’s fair,
“Thank you to everyone especially the school’s PTA who have done an amazing job organising everything."
