Middleton kicked off the Christmas festivities on Saturday (14 November) as the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale turned on the Christmas lights.
Mayor Surinder Biant and Mayoress Cecile Biant were joined by Heywood and Middleton MP Liz McInnes, June West, Chairwoman of Middleton Township and Father Christmas to officially kick off Christmas.
Organised by Middleton Town Centre Management, with help from Middleton Township, the event included a family fun fair, festive stalls, a community stage, live music, food and complementary mulled wine and mince pies.
Following the official switch on, a huge firework display lit up the skies above Middleton.
Adam Torevell, from Middleton Town Centre Management, said: “Despite the horrible weather, we have had a great day. Thank you to everyone who came out in the weather to show their support.”
