Ladies fashion show held to raise money for Depression Alliance

Date published: 15 November 2015

Mecca Bingo in Rochdale Town Centre was turned into a high-class fashion catwalk on Saturday (14 November) in aid of Depression Alliance.

Organised by Donna Elcock and Michelle Matthews, the event was in memory of Donna’s godmother Angela Holt.

Michelle said: “Angela loved fashion and shopping and Donna said she always looked immaculate so this was the perfect event to be held in her memory.”

Depression Alliance is the leading charity in the UK for anyone affected by depression, with their mission to bring people together to end the loneliness and isolation that so often comes with depression.

Michelle added: “All proceeds from the event will go to Depression Alliance and I think with the NHS cutting mental health services, charities like this will need the help.”

Donna and Michelle hope to have raised over £500 at the event.

“We didn’t set a fundraising target but we are hoping to have hit at least £500. We have had a great response and everything has gone really well.

“We have to thank Rick and everyone at Mecca for helping us and coming in to open Mecca up, and everyone at Shop2Drop for all they have done. It has been brilliant,” said Michelle.
