Rainbow Emily Tempest with the County Award for Young Members
Emily Tempest, age 6, a member of 21st Rochdale Rainbows has been honoured for her kindness with the Girlguiding Lancashire South East County Award for Young Members.
Emily, a Rainbow at the Littleborough based unit, was nominated for the County Award by Leader Amy Bamford because of her continued caring and thoughtful attitude towards other Rainbows in the group.
Emily noticed that one of the other Rainbows was upset, she left the Rainbow circle and put her arm around the distressed girl and comforted her. All without being asked. An amazing thing for a six-year-old.
County Commissioner Lynne Scales presented the award to Emily at a recent Rainbow meeting in front of Emily's Rainbow friends.
Emily said: “I was very surprised to get the award, and proud of myself as well."
Lynne said: “It's very touching when someone so young has compassion far beyond her years.
"Emily has really grown in confidence since joining the unit and is admired by us all.”
The Lancashire South East County Award for Young Members, launched earlier this year, is awarded to girls involved in Girlguiding across the county who deserve special recognition.
