Hopwood Hall College won the Healthy Workplace of the Year 2015 at the Rochdale Business Awards 2015.

Representatives from the College attended a Hollywood-themed evening where the winners were announced.

Employee Health and Wellbeing at the College is led by the Executive Director, Caroline Street who chairs the Health and Wellbeing Group with a cross section of employees. On the night, Caroline said: “We are delighted to have won the Healthy Workplace award which recognises the great work done to achieve our strategic intention of creating an environment where all students and staff are protected and supported in achieving health and wellbeing.”

“We are particularly proud of the work that the Health and Wellbeing Group do in delivering the plan that addresses the main areas for improvement of healthy eating, physical activity, mental health, work-life balance, health, safety and welfare. Every employee has been encouraged to participate in physical, social and mental health-related activities throughout the year and we are currently planning a 'North Pole Challenge', which links into our charity work.”

Initiatives that helped the College to secure its win include: its yearly ‘Health and Wellbeing Day’, numerous free physical activities on offer including a free gym and the College’s charities programme, where staff and students nominate charities to focus activities on throughout the year; £6,000 was raised for Springhill Hospice and MacMillan in 14/15 through a variety of team events.
