Can you help reunite Dexter the cat with his owner?

Have you lost your cat?

Dexter, a cat found in Middleton by Mel Major on 6 October, is believed to be from the borough.

Mel has been looking after Dexter but is looking to reunite him with his owner.

He is a black cat, with specks of white (due to his age) and has large amber eyes. He is believed to be around ten years old.

When Mel found Dexter, she took him to her local vets where he was scanned and a microchip was found. The company responsible for the microchip gave the vets the details they had on file for Dexter, but when Mel rang the number that was registered for him, it was no longer in use.

She said: “I then did my own research and because we were told he was from the Firgrove area of Rochdale, I narrowed it down to two vets. I rang Crown House Vets first and it just so happened that he was registered with them.”

The vets told Mel that Dexter had been rehomed in May and that, unfortunately, they had no up-to-date records for him.

“He could be from anywhere in Rochdale to be honest. We just know that he was re-homed but we can’t speak to his previous owners to find out where he belongs because the number isn’t working. He is such a lovely cat and I just hate to think that there is someone out there that he belongs to and they don’t know where he is,” said Mel.

It is understood that Dexter was registered in 2007.

If anyone think that Dexter is their cat or they recognise him and know who he belongs to, Mel can be contacted on 07742 237528.
