PC Stu Ockwell praised for kindness to elderly couple

Date published: 11 November 2015

The kind actions of PC Stu Ockwell, who visited an elderly couple in Middleton on Tuesday with a 'concern for their welfare' after the elderly lady dialed 999, has come in for praise.

The lady's husband was blind and she was struggling to look after him.

Stu said: "She isn't very well herself. I went down to see them and had a cup of tea with them.

"They have good support from neighbours, but they just wanted some help. The help is there, I just went to comfort them."

His kind actions have been praised on social media after officers from the Heywood and Middleton neighbourhood team tweeted: "Just dealt with a 95-year-old couple who called the police as they were lonely."
