The Crook Hill Community Benefit Fund is now open for applications.
Partnerships for Renewables has completed the construction of eleven wind turbines at Crook Hill and the site is about to become fully operational. The owners of the site, Crook Hill Properties Ltd will donate £35,000 each year to the Fund for the operational life of the project which is expected to be 20 – 25 years. Groups with worthwhile local projects can now apply for amounts between £250 and £10,000.
Community projects located within a 5km radius of the wind farm will be eligible for funding, and a panel of local people will decide which applications the Fund should support. There will be a single application round each year.
The Fund is being administered by national grant-making charity GrantScape. Local groups are encouraged to apply through the GrantScape website:
If your project needs funding, the first application deadline is Wednesday 24 February 2016. The first round of decisions will be made by the end April 2016.
John Mills, from Partnerships for Renewables, said: “I’m delighted to announce the launch of the Crook Hill Community Benefit Fund, now that the project is complete and generating power. I know from the many expressions of interest that we’ve already had that there are many local groups with great ideas for community projects that the Fund could potentially support. We’re hoping for a strong response, so if you represent a group active in the local area, please let us know how you think the Fund can best help your community”.
If you have a project you would like to discuss or you need more information, please contract Liz Payne at GrantScape:
