Remembrance Sunday in Heywood

The people of Heywood paid their respects to those who died in the service of their country this morning (Sunday 8 November) at the annual remembrance service.
The procession was led by Blackley Brass Band and the Service of Remembrance conducted by Father Paul Daly.
The last post was sounded followed by a two minute silence and the laying of wreaths.
Heywood MP, Liz McInnes said: "It is my great honour today to attend Heywood's Remembrance Service. They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old."
Councillor Alan McCarthy, Rochdale Borough Council’s lead member for the Armed Forces, said: “It is heartwarming at the amount of people who turned out on such an important day in our Armed Forces calendar.
"Remembrance Sunday is our chance as a nation to remember those soldiers who have given their lives to ensure we can live ours.”
